So once the PSP was able to play 720x480 video I was thinking, "hey this is great" I can encode my video collection to 720x480 AVC and play 1 file on all my devices. PSP,PS3, XBMC, PC etc.
One standard format right? Argh.
Of couse HD content will remain encoded for the PS3 but for my dvd's they are only 720x480'ish in size anyway.
So I tried using PSPvideo9 with the new format and it does play on the PS3. The upscaling leaves a bit to be desired. I think it looks a bit better on 1.7 but that could be wishful thinking.
I also found that PS3video9 set to 720x480 won't play on the PSP. I'm thinking it's the audio at that point. PSP won't do 6 channels I would think.
PSPvideo9 took all night to encode as well. (fast enough PC, so let's not go down that thread). I could have done something wrong on that one, but I've been encoding for a long time, and it hasn't been since my Pentium1 days that I had to leave it running for a couple of days.
What video format do you encode to? And what software do you use?
