I'm pretty sure it is. Until someone opens up a 80GB we won't know for sure.Zitat:

Removing the EE wont change the fact they are losing money per console but it would cover the cost of the 20GB so they won't be losing any more money.
$400 PS3?
Maybe, I guess. Seems possible.
Sony.
They're maybe saying this to see how the people react, and then have someone from SCEA (not SCEE ) say: "LoL people at SCEE do maryjane, don't listen to them" like they do sometimes.
Or maybe, like new speculation, they kill the 60GB, and bring back the 20GB with WiFi, card readers and the other thing, and make it $400.
All of this is pure speculation on my part, like always.
This was expected when they announced the price drop form the start. Sony is relying heavily on downloadable games, (not small arcade games) so they want every user to have a big hard drive.
But 20 gb's extra, isnt much.
If people are so fussed, they can buy 120 gb HDD's for cheaper.
Its stupid, i feel like Sony has ditched all the 60gb people. It says on the front page that their going to stop making 60gbs. That sucks. Alot.
It'd be stupid of them to keep the 80GB at 599$ once the 60GB is gone. I wouldn't out it past hem but I hoe they realize how many people will call them out and trach them again in the media.
If they were smart they would suck back the looses and drop the 80GB to $499. TBH though, with removing the EE, the minimal difference in price between the 80 and 60, diodes prices going down failry quickly and recently all this good PR I think they can afford too. Like Jack said they're looking down the road in terms of staying power so taking a loss right now could bring up their userbase and profits for the next coming years.
They need to keep this good mood from E3 on the rails.
I disagree, one SKU makes so much more sense. I would hate to be a general consumer looking for a 360 right now. I myself know which one I want but how about mom or dad at Christmas looking for a 360 for their son/daughter, 4 different consoles:confused: I can't believe how ug the halo3 SKU is, no game packed with it either??Zitat:

Ya I agree. If 60gb isnt big enough for you, you wouldnt buy a 80gb you would get a 100gb+. Making it 80gb was yet another stupid idea from sony. Looks like the 60gb PS3 will die like the 20gbs =/Zitat:
Zitat von Vee
There are only 3 different 360s and its not as bad as you make it seem. lol Im not sure what kind of parents you know but the parents I know arent stupid they know how to read and/or ask if they dont know something.Zitat:

Working at the College Im in contact with a lot of parents, believe me...... It's getting better though, because Im a parent and our genereation is just more tech savy.Zitat:

Halo SKU = 20GB/HDMI. What other model has that combo? I thought for sure they would get rid of the core.
Is that a model or a limited edition? Ya I agree most parents dont know much tech stuff but how hard is it to ask "Hey I wanna get a xbox 360 for my son. I see there a few models here which would you prefer?"Zitat:
Zitat von user friendly
They're just going to say the Elite, which is what I would buy anyways. But then she asks hey what's this one, it's the Halo3 unit "Oh my, he really likes that halo game, my little angel" then she walks out with the wrong console with a small HD and a butr ugly design just because she thinks her son/daughter would like it. There's alwaqys returns though. I don't 4 just seems to much, even 3 for that matter.Zitat:

Finally, in related news to Sony.
Which is exactly what I thought. There should be enough 60GB for a while still and by the time it's gone they can afford to drop the 80GB and remove Motorstorm. They could have also just said this to make people really run out and get them while they're cheap. Then they drop the price once their UB grows, marketing strategy at it's most confusing hour.Zitat:

PS3 60 Gig Phase-Out ‘False’ Claims SCEA
Confusion surrounds the future of the $499 60Gig version of PS3. SCEA has denied 'inaccurate' reports that its $100 price cut on the 60Gig PS3 is simply a move to clear stock before offering solely the higher priced 80Gig version. But different stories are coming of of the company all the time. Kaz Hirai seems to think the $499 SKU is a goner.
Officials at Sony Computer entertainment Europe - including president David Reeves - had said that the US price would still be $599 because that would be the only model on offer once 60Gig stocks ran out. If true, this would have rendered the $100 price cut a virtually pointless gesture, meaning that PS3 had not been cut in price, but was simply being offered with extra memory and a bundled game.
SCEA has reacted with puzzlement to the European perspective, suggesting that there may have been an incorrect interpretation. The spokesperson said, “Those quotes from David Reeves are not accurate. He said that if they had lowered the price in Europe, that territory would have run out of their current inventory by the end of July.”
Nevertheless, Kaz Hirai himself says the one SKU strategy is the plan. He told Scandinavian website VGTV, "[We do not] have a 2 SKU strategy in the US, we learned very quickly customers respond better to having one SKU than two. We dropped the price on the 60GB model, as you know that model is no longer in production, once it's no longer on store shelves it will just be the $600 SKU."
Previously, a senior PR at Sony in London had backed Reeves statement, confirming that he had been talking about the US market, though the PR later distanced London from the remarks, telling Next-Gen, “I believe that is the plan, but SCEA has not formally made an announcement on any timeframe. As it affects the US you should confirm with SCEA. ”
SCEA subsequently denied the story entirely. However, questions will now be raised about the company's long term plans for the 60Gig version and for its $599 / $499 pricing strategy as well as its ability to stay on-message. We're waiting for clarification on some of these issues from SCEA.
Why cant they just leave it as it was, one type of PS3, one price and one box. None of this bundle and phasing out and stock clearance thing. They best turn it around soon... i hope they get it straight anyway...

System seller?
Hell yeahz! What is it? Is it a arcade form home?
Another cool looking PSN title.
These PSN titles are looking ****. Like Go!Sudoku or Go!Puzzle.
How about 'Go!MakeAProper****ingGam e'?
Takes the piss, develop something decent. Only good games i've seen on their is Pain and Tekken.
Flow, Calling all Cars, Stardust, PSX titles, I enjoyed Q-Bert, Super Rub a Dub, ya...
Mark Rein talks some smack. Trying to make sure their engine seels well for PS3 development, it seems.
He said that UT3 is better this year on PS3 then GoW last year for XBOX360!
Ive only ever played UT once and that was UT2004 on my MacBook dualbooting Ubuntu - wasn't the best experience as i only played it for a few seconds but UT3 looks immense... i will defiantly be playing/buying this!
Some of the other sites I visit are saying UT3 is a PS3 exclusive. Is this true?
Timed i believe
What do you guys think about the picture Phil Harrison took with his cellphone, and automatically was posted on his wall at Home?
Timed exclusive because either Sony paid them money, or because they don't want to compete with Halo 3. Or both.Zitat:
Zitat von Adiuvo
I would go with the latter.
Also, this interview with Peter Moore gets really funny in the end.
Link.
2 things.
Shoot David Reeves, get a new prez for SCEE.
And that guy from Epic presenting UT3 is either gay, or high.
Can't he be both?
MOVIE DOWNLOAD SERVICE!!!
LINK!
:Jump:
They already announced this on Wednesday. Hopefully it will be good like MS's video marketplace.Zitat:
Zitat von Adiuvo
A movie download service for the PSP is a terrible idea.
the video marketplace (before I was banned) was pretty cool but, they need to step up the movies (if they didn't already) they have far too many TV shows, and not enough movies, good ones anyway.Zitat:
Zitat von Sinfulfate
They have Disney signed up now so they will get a lot more movies.
So was making a handheld to compete against the DS but sony tried to do that anyway. But anyway ya who would pay Sony to download movies to there psp when you can download any movie off the net and put it on your psp for free?Zitat:
Zitat von Mister Chief
Ya which is sweet. As soon as Im off of work I gotta rent Bring Down the house in HD that movie was cool.Zitat:
Zitat von Mister Chief
Thats the thing.
Its not like the PSP can play HD so anyone can just make movies of the highest quality and put them on their PSPs
And that was a horrible horrible movie.
I guess this is just like... since the PS3 gets the service, the PSP may as well share the same thing. I guess that you can get both the PS3 and the PSP version of a movie... when you purchase it.
I actually liked that. Alot.Zitat:

Did you notice the XMB on his Sony Ericsson W880i?
Now that looked amazing, possible cross talk between SE phones and PS3? Dream come true.
It also mentioned how you can add things from a PC to your room. That would be amazing. Imagine being going to a Games show, taking pictures the whole day and uploading them to your Home for others to see whilst your still abroad.
I have a Sony Ecrisson, so hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of the 'Home' cellphone thing once I get a PS3 :)
