My brother doesn't want a xbox 360 to play Gears of War. He has no interest in HD gaming, online play, media, none of that nonsense. Give him a core 360, Madden 08, and a memory unit to save his franchises and hes happy. All the people I know are the same way lol one guy I work with had no idea his 20gb PS3 could play Blu ray movies.

well everybody i've heard where i live only care about blowing people up in Gow. at least your brother will touch a 360 mine hates it with a passion. i myself like them all pretty much equally and it's silly to call the ps3 overpriced at 500$ when it has so many more features than the rivaling low end 360.
sure if i had 300$ right now i'd buy a core 360 but then i'd end spending hundreds if i wanted a hard drive to play xbox 1 games or save my games or want hd-dvd

if ps3 had a super low end 300$ model i'd bet it'd sell like crazy too. except there isn't one, i guess the real difference is , is that microsoft is giving you a choice and sony isn't.

The thing is, what if the consumer doesn't want a HD Drive, what if they don't want WiFi, they still have to dish out $500.

And almost every other add-on costs more then it should for what it does.

the psp has wifi
the ps3 has wifi
the DS has wifi
even the ****ing wii has it.
The 360 is pretty much the only recent gaming device that doesn't have it

well imo the ps3 has some great games and i was willing to pay for it and they are a lot of fun. and i do think the choice plan is a great one and if only sony adopted that same plan. but then again if they did xbots would be runing around saying they copied them...

You gotta start buying your games from gamefly they had VF5 for $29.99 for a long while(now its $24.99 I guess no one wants that crappy game). Ya its used but its gamefly used and not crappy gamestop used. lol a week after NBA street homecourt was out gamefly was selling it for $47.99 used. Only problem is they only sell some games and not all of them. They even have some wii games for cheap im tempted to get Wario Ware smooth moves for $27.99 from gamefly.

Never said it didn't. If the 360 wasn't in the market, the PS3 wouldn't be overpriced. It's the fact you can get an equal gaming experiance for $100 less is what makes it overpriced.

if people knew that they will most likely be buying a blu-ray player in the future and the convince of WiFi they would probably get a ps3. Its just people have to be better informed about the 3 systems on the market and I think thats what SONY has to concentrate on to do better. And i dont like that choice **** either because if i didn't know what blu-ray was and got one without it, i would be regretting it later when i realized what it was. (blu-ray players standalone are like $1000 anyway).

And your brother will be regretting it later when he learns the wonders of online play and the need for hard drive space. The choices thing is just so they can get more money out of you later when you do want these things.

Well are you or are you not going to buy a blu-ray player in the future or stick with DVD or maybe in your case the VHS. Thats like buying a gamecube instead of a ps2 or xbox because you didn't want to pay for the extra DVD player. Accept the future don't delay it.

I'll buy a HD player when they become mainstream. I've no interest in them at the current prices and availability.

People seem to have problems defining between overpriced and expensive. For what you get, the PS3 is not overpriced, heck, they're sold at a loss. But is the PS3 expensive? You can bet it is.

Sony Blu ray players are $499.99 getting cheaper by the minute because no ones buying them. And most people still dont have 1080p tvs/monitors and there's no point in watching blu ray movies without one might a well just save your money and buy a standard dvd.

Nope he doesn't care about online, harddrive, media or any of that crap. Most of the people I know are like that as well they buy consoles to play games that is all. As long as they can play the games they love and have some sort of way to save there games there set. My brother is one of the biggest sony fanboy's I know yet wont buy a PS3 because of the price and all the unnecessary crap it comes with 60gb hardrive, sixaxis, blu ray, wifi, media, etc so he will just stick with his PS2 till they stop making madden for it.

MS was smart to give people choice if sony had a model of there console for cheap like $300 and didnt have all that crap average gamers dont need it would appeal to people like my brother.

Ya I agree but I still think the P3 is overpriced because of what comes in the box. For $600(how much I paid for mine) you would think for paying a premium price you would be getting a premium package am I right? All I ask is HD out of the box like MS. Sony doesn't even need to package in a mic just add component cables. It just isnt fun to buy your PS3 at like Best buy then you have to buy the cables to hook use your console up somewhere else.

I say blu-ray isn't unnecessary one bit. Game devs now have a ton more space to add high res textures and what have you (link in userfriendlys sig about heavenly sword only just fitting on a single layer blu-ray disk) and the fact that the ps3 can double up as a movie player is just a bonus. Levels will take up more space eventually. When PS2 came out wasn't an average game only about 500-900mb (the size of a ps1 game i believe) yet now they are taking up the whole dvd? [ <--not too sure on that but im sure you know where im going ] same will happen with blu-ray i bet.

On the other hand a PS3 with less stuff like you said above would defiantly be cheaper but didn't they already see that the lesser ps3s we not selling enough (20gb ps3 with no wifi, media). If there was no HDD then you would be in the same state that rockstar was in, in which they cant be sure if everyone has a HDD or not. Sixaxis is fine, i like it infact. Rumble will soon be back too.

Well Gears of War, Lost Planet, Oblivion, NBA Street(1080p native), all EA 08 game will be running at 60fps and fit fine on dual layered dvd discs. The extra space with blu ray is nice but imo I dont think its needed just used to stop multi disk games but nothing wrong with using multiple disks.

Loading Screen- Please insert disk two.
Opening scene- Please insert disk three.
After seventh level- Please insert disk four.
And so on and so on.

Did the guy state that MGS4 would barely fit on a dual layered BR? I wouldn't like to switch the disks that many times.

yeah, because the devs are lazy with their compression. If they actually tried then it would be fine, they aren't incorporating anything thats "SO NEXT GEN" that it cant fit on a BR single layer, they are just being lazy with their compression, then fanboys use the whole "ZOMG IT BEARLY FITS ON BLU-RAY, THATS WHY PS3 IS TEH ROXX, WE GETZ MORE SPACE AND IT IS THE NEEDED!" argument.

i've seen alot of those ps3 better than 360 things be wrong though, and i think home will be delayed for some reason, either that or the first day it will lock up as the servers overload, once its stable it will be awesome though
