Taken from hereOkay guys. I found out why Sony updated the PlayStation 3 to version 1.90. According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony actually put in wallpapers and stuff because users asked for it.
Now this may not sound like much, but it wasn't just people e-mailing Sony for it and then Sony never answered. It was actually members of the PlayStation Blog that sent requests to Sony. The PlayStation Blog is only about 2 months old or something and Sony is taking FULL advantage of it.
Sony is awesome, they are giving the users what they want. It was also stated that the background request was in the top 3 things asked for by PlayStation Blog users.
Listen, if everybody signs up for this site, we can keep requesting Sony to update the PlayStation 3 the way we want it. Sony seems willing to do it, and they took advantage of the site. Now it is our turn.
Also, Sony said that they have a new firmware update in the works incorporating more user's requests. I don't know what it is, but I hope it is in game access to the XMB.
Go here if you want to sign up. I haven't done it yet, so I don't know how to sign up or send requests. You might actually have to be a member of PlayStation Underground to do this, but I don't know.
Here is the read.
