One question, how long can you keep it after renting a movie? Anyone know? There was no mention of it in the conference.
Damn... I'm just hoping it's not gone the iTunes way and the movie doesn't have to be watched within 24 hours after you start watching it. At least 72 hours, please. :/
"Consumers who rent a movie from the video delivery service have 14 days to watch the content. Once content playback is started, consumers have a full 24 hours to enjoy their rental. Pricing for rental movies at launch ranges from $2.99 to $5.99, and pricing for purchased movies ranges from $9.99 to $14.99."
Do you know who I am?
That's even worse than iTunes! 14 days? iTunes allows 30 days!
EDIT: Yes! The video service is up!

you cant. because your in canada like me.
In the PlayStation Store, above the categories you'll see two options: Game and Video. Go to Video. :)
I though that, Electro, but I think Sony put up measures to prevent that.
After seeing all of these games, absolutely none of them have stunned me graphic-wise. I think it's because I've been so spoiled with how perfect MGS4 was.
This is weird the store is a little buggy in my opinion, sometimes it freezes horribly and actually makes my entire connection lag, my PS3 says I'm disconnected from the access point then a few seconds later my computer says its been disconnected and its wired, other than that the new store is pretty kool aside from the fact that you can't buy movies in HD but that's ok.
What? Nothing's wrong with my connection. I'm successfully downloading Click. Which I bought for $9.99. Adam Sandler's movies suck my ass. I liked Click.
Yes, MGS4 spoiled me, too. I thought games like PAIN were PS2 games.

I have to say, I really do like the new video service. Many people have been putting it down but I do not see why. Over here, New York City, Time Warner Cable charges $4.99 for the rental of a movie in SD, this is through the cable box, and their is no way to rent movies in HD other than paying $20+ more a month for HBO, Cinemax and what not. Even then these aren't rentals but one would have to wait till the movie one wants to come up, if it does. $6 for the rental of a movie in HD is great, add that to the fact that hopefully one day the PlayStation cards will show up, and their is no need to open up an account for Netflix. Aside from that one call also download TV shows for $2 and that's extremely cheap.
What? Cloverfield has an HD option.
EDIT: for those of you who can access the video store, there is an anime section right? whats in it?
If I were to make a US account and buy a US prepaid card online would I be able to access and rent Videos?
Why is everyone so exited for an On Demand rental service? I'm sure your cable box has been doing this for years.
One less remote to use. Duh.
Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6ghz (Multiplier: 9x; Bus: 400mhz; FSB: 1600mhz;)
GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB (Core: 850mhz; Memory: 1200mhz; Shader: 2100mhz;)
ASUS P5K Pro Motherboard
Patriot Extreme (2x2GB) / OCZ HPC (2x1GB)
6GB Total Dual Channel RAM (DDR2 1066mhz)
OCZ GameXstream 700w
2x Seagate 250GB HD (RAID0)
If the 360 video marketplace had TV episodes on it over here then the PS3 Video download service wouldn't be a big deal at all. If I can get a points card and get stuff from the PSN US store then this is a great thing to have.
Is this Video Store I.P locked to U.S I.P's only?
But wouldn't people rather pirate the movies and upload it to their PS3's?
For the people who don't want to, here you go. -_-
The file type, according to my PS3, is MNV. Never heard of it. And looks like you need a PSP with 4.05 (no, even with the USB fake plugin) to copy the movie over.
I bought SD not HD, and it still looks pretty good. DVD quality, though. Of course.
EDIT: Here's a list of movies available in HD:
-The Amityville Horror
-Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh
-Comic Book Villains
-The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream
-Dances With Wolves
-Death at a Funeral
-Die Another Day
-Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
-How She Move
-Lars and the Real Girl
-Lions for Lambs
-The Man in the Iron Mask
-The Princess Bride
-Species IV: The Awakening
-Stargate: The Ark of Truth
-The Usual Suspects
-The World is Not Enough
-Xam'd Lost Memories: Season 1: Episode 1: Xam'd at the Dawn of War
