idk....don't buy it yet until someone else that knows replies but i also have a 360 and you do almost the same thing for the rrod and you get it to overheat until it restarts again and it starts working again but never had a ylod on my ps3 so i won't know if it works the same.... just wait till someone who knows more post...but in the meantime google if you can find another forum or site that proves this work

The only reason a PS3 would get a YLoD would be 99.9% a user-made problem.

this kit will not work dont waste your money, you need no other parts for ps3 repair apart from some arctic silver 5 thermal compound, i have repaired hundreds, heatgun the rsx and cell chips in the middle of the motherboard after you have cleaned all the silicone thermal paste off it

wrong!!, sometimes the laser fails on old models usually after the 2 year mark, problems are caused because of the rubbish thermal compound used on the fat ps3 models. if the heatsink doesnt have good thermal compound on it cant lift the heat from the chips can it? simple logic, i suggest the old stuff is cleaned off as soon as the console is out of its 12 month warranty arctic silver 5 is applied before any problems occur.

Well, it is useless if the PS3 is already broken.

It's easy to fix a YLoD.

I reflowed mine about a week ago and it's purring like a kitten.

2 years??? i had my fat ps3 since it launched and i brought mine on the midnight launch and its still good as new and running smoothly no problems whatsoever plays blu-rays, ps3 games, every other cds with ease...... the problem really lies on the owner either they messed around with the ps3's components to mod it or whatever or they just didnt take good care of their ps3's.....
