Seriously, that was laughable :D The Cell in general is very powerful, but the 1st generation cell that has bottlenecks in its architecture (that can't be replaced for a better one because all the PS3 games to date won't work) ain't as great as people make it out to be.
I'm sure it'll be great compared to the rev and 360...but don't think it'll be leap and bounds like alot think.
just like the xbox wasn't leap and bounds ahead of the ps2...or vice versa.
Well, the Xbox actually was leaps and bounds ahead of the PS2, it could do a hell of a lot of things the PS2 couldn't dream of doing (having a faster CPU, a proper next gen GPU, twice the RAM and a HDD gives the potential for much more complex games). The fact that the PS2 was the market leader by miles, and that Microsoft cut it's life early meant that a lot of it's potential went untapped. The difference between the PS3 and 360 does not even approach the gulf between the Xbox and PS2, so any apparent difference will probably not be noticed by most consumers.Zitat:

Indeed, and that was kind of my point, even though there was such a huge gulf in the hardware the difference in game quality was only marginal. The quality of games is much more dependant on market share and dev quality than it is on hardware.Zitat:

You have to understand one thing people. Sony is not obtuse about their fields or markets. Sony will compete with their competitors and not institute a system meant to fail or to be left alone. The X Box 360 was released at a price of about $399, Sony will do the same. All the talking before the release of the Playstation 3 is out of the equation, its common sense that indicates that Sony isnt dumb. Sony has so many hits, they just know what theyre good at. In my opinion the Sony Playstation 3 will cost at about $400 or $450 and nothing more then that. The Game Disc's might cost a little more then the price of the X Box 360, but again Playstation 3's quality and gaming will be better. Sony have taken their time, they've observed their opponents, they know what we want, GET R3ADY! :icon_wink

Actually in the past Sony have always went straight from dollars to pounds (happened with both the PS1 and PS2 and the PSP wasn't far off) so we end up paying close to double. Microsoft are the first company to take Europe seriousley launching at a decent price and at a good time. Hopefully Sony will follow suit but I can't see it launching below £350.Zitat:

It does and that's really not as bad a deal as it seems because it also includes 17.5% VAT. When you start to compare it to the past where the PS2 was £300 in the UK and $300 in the US it starts to seem like an OK deal. Sure we're paying more, but we usually pay a lot more.Zitat:

500 is the max Im paying for a PS3. I think most people wont pay more than that.
I hope the PS3 is priced in a sane way in the UK. £400 would be streching it for just the console alone.
