I don't think games will be $80-100.
I don't know since it's going to be $600. I may just wait and get a 360 for now. OMG I just said I'm getting a 360. I must be losing my mind.
Nice, you won't regret it. ;)Zitat:

If i had to choose between hd dvd and blu ray i would hd dvd will win. I can already buy hd dvd movies and an hd dvd player at my best buy. I cant but blu ray or blu ray disc.Zitat:
Zitat von Typhoon of the Dweeb
I dont think Ps3 games will be $80-$100 either more and likely around the $60 range we shall wait and see...
With all those silly restrictions on Blu-Ray discs, there is a severe and distinct possibility that you will be REQUIRED to connect the PS3 to the internet in order for it to receive firmware updates to "allow" for playback of certain Blu-Ray video titles.
See below:Zitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
PS2 at launch: $250
PS3 at launch: $600
PS3 price is 2.4 times higher than PS2
PS2 games at launch: $50
PS3 games at launch: $80/$100
Ratio: 1.6, or 2
However...
PS2 games: $50
PS3 games: $60-$80
Ratio: 1.2/1.6
Seems like the games will be higher than $60, now doesn't it?
Where did you get that from?Zitat:
Zitat von PSPunk
Sorry man, that's not how pricing works for most consumer products. Ratio's are not used for pricing in that manner.
Actually the rumor of PS3 games is for $70.
Uhm, no.Zitat:
Zitat von PSPunk
The only reason why 360 games cost $60 is becasue the system itself cost more to make than they are selling it for. So they are getting back the money in the game price. Pending on is Sony is going to scumbag us, prices could stay at $50 or go to $60. $80 is insane and would make people loose all hope for Sony. A $600 system and $80 per game? BANKRUPTCY.
That'd be the final nail in the coffin. I doubt it. I'm better $60 or the PS3 won't even get off the ground.
If the games are more than 65$ im definately not getting it!
so trueZitat:
Zitat von Magneto3521
Yeah thats true what ya said there!Zitat:
Zitat von Magneto3521
Also if the games are more than 60$ people are going to lean more towards Microsoft and Nintendo due to them overpricing games!
And that's the main reason why the games will be priced in line with what Microsoft has done so far with the 360.Zitat:
Zitat von Crimson_Tears
Oh definately. Overpriced system, overpriced games, and you know if those 2 are overpriced the accessories will be too. Ha, I hope for everyones sake that it won't be like that. And to think, all of this could have been avoided if they didn't just have to have their blu-ray.
Zitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
Exactly, i'll almost guarantee a $60 pricetag. Their stupid...not suicidal.
Yeah, I dont think Sony is stupid to overprice games, if they did they would just lose sales on there stuff!
I most definitely wouldn't get it at launch. Have to save up for my next phone. =D
Two things:
1- What do you think 6 usb ports would do for the PS3?? Maybe for upgrade ??
2- E3 is one day ahead, why speculating in such manner??
Also you should shink that PS3 is not only for PS gamers, also works fine as a Blu-ray player so a lot of people will be buying it for that. Then prices will start to come down as both sony and bluray start prevailing...
1) To hook up iPods, PSPs, etc.Zitat:
Zitat von HELL-O-EVERYONE
All lot of ppl won’t buy the ps3 as a blu ray player. To get any improvement in quality (HD) from blu ray you need to play the movies using a HDMI port that means that in order to watch blu ray movies in HD you need to get the 600 ver. Now honestly who is going to go buy a Playstation 3 for 600 just to play movies on it?
I can't see blu-ray OR hd-dvd getting too big. I'm thinking the general public will reject both. Most people aren't freaks about quality and present day quality is quite enough.
No PS3 for me, Wii all the way.
yes if I can get my hands on one :/
I'll pre-order when I get the exact price and US date info
November 17th 20GB $499 60GB $549 ($599?)
Its funny since now PS3 can play all the games...
If a game is on PC, bam port it (it supports keyboard and mouse so no change)
If a game is on 360, bam port it
If a game is in Wii, bam port it (has motion sensor)
If a game is on PSP, bam port it (they already did with coded arms)
LOL stupid sony, trix are for kids...
WOW you never seem to a surprise me with you retarded posts.Zitat:

that what alot of poeple said about about vhs i never going to buy dvd way to much money ahh my vhs movies still look good but yet here we are with almost every one has at lest 1 dvd in the houseZitat:
Zitat von Magneto3521
also dident dvd take of thanxs to the ps2 and being one of the cheapest dvd player a while ago
Your partly right. DVD took off because their was a noticble differance in quality on even 480i TV.Plus VHS is magnetic type so after a while it demagnetises. While DVD is last a lot longer. Also dvd were used by games for larger space and pcs for storage and games. So you really needed a new format both for video and space over VHS. Its true that the PS2 did help in dvd player sales.Zitat:
Zitat von Typhoon of the Dweeb
Now Blu Ray and HD DVD both are only NEEDED for 2 reasons
1) HD quality
2) HDMI ports for copy right protection
As of right now you dont need a huge amout of extra space just for games and movies only need to that space to be in hd. If you dont have a hdmi port your not seeing the video in HD. Which means for the vast majority of ppl without HDMI ports hd dvd and blu ray offer no advantage in quality.
If i could, i would...
Oh, I forgot so say one thing:
I'm scamming my Dad into buying me one, he's taking the cost of a blue ray player (which are currently $700) off of it.
I'm getting a few at launch...putting all but one on ebay.
blue as in blu ray is spelled like that.Zitat:
Zitat von Hardrive
Anyways what do you mean hes taking the cost of the player? You mean hes buying it because it has a blu ray player?
I will never buy a console from launch, people who do are beta-testers, people who wait a while always get best value (look the PStwo)
Microsoft: Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto, Geometry Wars, Cheaper.
Sony: ...no Halo, Grand Theft Auto, More expensive, ...More expensive.
Xbox360 > PS3
sorry Abe...
Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto are pretty much all it takes to get me to buy a console.
Ditto. Quite true.Zitat:
Zitat von <
But one can even see it in these very forums, most people want to be beta testers.
I only bought my PS2 first hand a year ago and it broke down. Maybe I am unlucky.Zitat:
Zitat von <
Look at the psp us so called beta testers have 1.5 psps:)Zitat:

it would make logical sense...Zitat:

stand-alone blu ray player cost (supposedly) around $1000, and here Sony is making a Blu Ray player/Gaming console rig for a little more than half that.
(a little is still alot though, about $100-150)
