cd's arent obsolete yet, even though dvd's are alot better. and you can save much higher quality music on a dvd. with new headphones and speakers, higher quality music can be heard and is alot better than regular. but why hasnt everybody taken the higherquality dvd choice for music? because the things to distinguish between standard quality and high quality music are expensive. you can say the same about bluray. sure hd is alot better than sd, but the things needed to distinguish between the two are expensive.
Who said CD's are obsolete? I said CD's are success..?
i used it as an example that people dont always take the higher quality.
CD > DVD > HD-DVD > UH-DVD > Hard Drives
thats teh time line.

I dont feel like requoting so here i go
@kon
Yes i do have a 1080p tv, mitsubishi wd-57731
I never said it was better at HD. The disc itself can store more data making it better. The evolution of HD-DVD would be Blu Ray since the "bumbs" on the disc are smaller allowing more data to be on it.
@dracule
There are no HD-DSVD players right now that display in 1080p. They call downscale to 1080i and make the TVs reupscale to 1080p and some crappy tvs would upscale to 540p.
@bs(thats kinda funny how your name is shortened)
i'll finsh later
give me some pics then.Zitat:

Blu-ray wont prevail. Society has just STARTED to engage DVD's as the new format of video. Think about it, previous to like... 2000 people ahve been using VHS for like 15 or something years. people wont take on to a new format change after theyve just built a collection of DVD's. its too early. maybe in another 5-10 years a new format would be good but by then Holodiscs will most likely been manufactured for sale and blu-ray wont even hold up to anything. if it does catch on now well have another change in another 5 years? Whats the point? So i can see 100 extra pixels while im watching Seinfeld?
its jsut so stupid the things people will buy for no reason.
We just call 'em "nut-huggers".Zitat:

more storage doesnt make it better. ever watch that direct tv commercial about something being too big? does an 8 pound steak make it better?
it only takes about 4gb per hour for 1080p, and since most movies are less than 3 hours long, it makes your average movie 12gb... which can easily fit on a hd-dvd disc and still have room for extras.
guess waht guys i have a 1080p TV its 1 billion inches big. no pics for u though. but rly i have it
No 1080p TV will scale a 1080i image to 540p. Every image put into a HD tv must be scaled to the panels resolution.Zitat:

well, more storage that has the same quality and same price IS better
but as of now, we still need to see if BDROM and HDDVD will have the same price and wait for BDROM to use the h.294 codec
and also, if an HDDVD is double layer, it WILL cost more
they arent the same price.... the whole thing is this:
same quality, half the price thats why people will go hd-dvd. sure it has 10gb less, but why would i pay twice for that, when i get the same quality?
and dont say "ohh they are the same pice because the ps3 is a bluray player" because unless it has all the functions and quality, and comes with a remote, than it isnt the same as a standalone bluray player.

Actually you are wrong and are talking out of your ass. Some older 1080P TVs didn’t do actual 1080P. They had crappy scalers. Its all over the internet. My TV does to actual 1080p but that problem still affects some other models of 1080P TVs.
@BS
iball said that not you. I though it was kinda obvious I was talking to him there.
I never said current day if said announced. Nice try changing my words tho
Nice try what? You didn’t prove studios would go over to HD-DVD at all.
keep refusing the facts and digging your grave when I am proved right. I was right about everyone switching to 360 side and I will be right about ppl going back to Sony and PS3 along with BD being better and beating HD-DVD.
I could care less if other ppl don’t have 1080p. I have a 1080p TV.
Like I have said many times. They are using MPEG2 which is old when they switch over it will look equal. I have no idea why u don’t think they will use encoding when its right in both disc formats, HD-DVD and Blu Ray. You just cant accept the fact because they would they are equal and BD can store more data.
I will have pics later. Someone give me the link to the thread about our video/audio set ups.

Em1l are you aware that current Bluray players don't support real 1080p either. Are you also aware that someone pointed out a planned HD-DVD player that supports 1080p.
You totally didn't understand my point about the studios and if talking to you in the past is any indication then there's no point in explaining it.
Your statement about the lack of ownership of 1080p just goes to show your pure ignorance. You're trying to claim 1080p is a factor in one post and then go and completely change that angle in the next, to suit your fanboy agenda. That's not a debate, it is an mindless and ignorant fanboy on a bias agenda. I am not going to give mindless fanboys the time of day, so please stop with your mindless posts from now on.
