I wanted a video game system with a proven online backend so I bought a 360.
I think the real bone crusher with PS3 is the price/performance ratio. Unlike the PS2, which made it seem like the DVD player was FREE functionality. PS3's Price/Performance ratio is horrible. Cell yeilds are bad. RSX isnt look 'that amazing' removed functionality. Delays... pretty bad.

For all the other MP3 players you have hack-jobs and line-in inputs that will never sound as good and clear.
It's not because of 'branding' it's because it's been adopted by the industry as a near-standard now.
"Brand Buy-in" will only get you so far. Look at the Gamecube.
Eventually, you have to deliver value, and I think Sony is gonna learn that the hard way in the upcoming generation.

By the time PS3 comes out. You will be able to buy a PC that is equal to it at the pretty much same price.
I'll wait until it hits the discount bins for $200 in about a year or two.
By then it will have probably been 'hacked' into a true media center PC akin to the xbox media center hack.
And that's what I'll use it for.

Not necessarily for movies, there is going to be some point when this will not work, its just a matter of when and not if. If you're even remotely interested in HD movies then the $500 one makes no sense, as its capacity to play movies is unknown. Sure your current TV may not have HDMI but its likely your next one will. When you're investing such an ungodly amount, it just doesn't make sense to buy a gimped, unupgradeable model that will lose some of its functionality in the future.Zitat:

The reason I down on PS3 is because it does NOTHING 360 can't do, and for a whole helluva lot more....you can argue the fact that it hasn't been out for a year and yadda yadda, but according to Sony devs have had a full year with kits resembling the final PS3 specs, about as long as 360 devs have (they only got real 360's like 3 months before release).
So ya, show me PS3 doing something 360 isn't and is worth the extra cash, then maybe i'll lay off.....and don't even mention blu-ray, because that does NOTHING for the system and games, look up procedural synthesis, something the 360 specializes in, then see how a game that is 160 KILOBYTES can compare with Quake IV (not really,but with a little work and uping the size to maybe half a megabyte) There is no need for anything bigger then DVD-9 unless as mentioned you have pre-rendered cutscenes.....which also as mentioned are moot, and really should not be showing up on such a powerful next gen system (they should be aspiring to make in-game cutscenes look like CG without copping out and just using CG.....plus that adds a whole lot to the development process) Not to mention CG cutscenes are so last-last-gen....
