Ever since November 6th, I've been driving to my local Best Buy store after work just to check if there were any people in line yet.
So each night around 9:30 pm I would go there, and when I'd see no people in line camping out, I'd be releived.
That was all good until Monday November 13th. It was me and my cousin that went, and we got there at about 9:45 pm, and when I saw a couple of people waiting in line already, I was shocked, since my original plan was to go either Tuesday night or sometime during Wednesday.
My cousin tells me there's no way he's leaving right now, so he sets up 2 chairs, and we take our seats as number 3 and 4 in line. At about 11 pm, it starts pouring like crazy, so we decided that it was a good time to start setting up the tent that we bought just the night before. After about an hour of trying to setup the stupid tent, we finally got it, but man.....we were soaked.
So we finally put all our stuff inside the tent, and go to sleep at around 2 am. The next morining I wake up, and the line was sooo full, that there were people lining up around the corner of the store, at a quick glance it seemed like there were about 40 - 50 people, not to mention that there were 3 more tents setup right after us.
But next came another surprise, the 2 guys that came before us were actually holding 4 more spots after them, so that makes me and my cousin number 7 and 8 now. We weren't mad at all, and the other guys infront of us were actually VERY cool. We bought eachother drinks, food, and had lots of good conversations, and helped each other out a ton.
After getting to know these guys, it turns out that they sort of had like a team, and a captian. The captian was very smart, and placed several BIG guys in front of the line, and a couple more right behind us. So all in all, there were 13 of us in this so called "group".
The captian provied each of his guys a relief whenever they got tired, and most of the time, all 13 of us weren't even in line, becuase if anybody would ever ask us how many there are in our "group", he would always say 13, just to save those few extra spots for his people that weren't there yet.
Also on Wednesday the media actually cought up to us. It turned out that the tent that I first set up got the attention of so many news stations, that they actually came over to do interviews.
At around 4 pm on Wednesday, Fox 5 news actually came over to do a few interviews, and they started with the "captian" of the group, and slowly mad their way to me, since they saw me coming out the tent. I think the reporter that interviewed me, her name was Linda Shmit, she just asked me to describe how its be for the past couple of days sleeping in a tent, and if I was ready for it, and I just said that we have all the basic necesseties that we need to survive for the next few days all in this tent. (yay I got my 15 seconds of fame ON TV :Jump: )
Then later on, ABC news came and did another interview, but this time it was early in the morning, and I was half asleep in my tent, so I didn't bother coming out, plus im kinda camera shy...
And on Thursday, Fox 5 came again, and did another interview, but I wasnt in it either, since it was kinda early in the morning, and I was sleeping.
Anyways, this was my very first time camping out for a system, or actually camping out for anything, but it was a blast. I spent 3 days and 4 nights waiting for a system and I think it was the best time of my life.
The only thing that bothers me now is that I see how alot of people brag about how they waitied 18 hours at walmart or 24 hours at costco or some other store, while I waited ~84 Hours (dont know if my math was right) and didn't say a damm thing. Well anyway, now its my time to brag, cause I got myself 2 Playstation 3's, both 60 GB.
Here's some pics I took:
Anyways, feel free to share your stories of how you got your PS3
