I just posted this in sony underground GAP but looking here for help too, in case they can't.
I am seeking someone with a PS3 that is fairly versatile with technical aspects.
I have a 61" Sony Projection TV that is 420p and 1080i capable HD connected via Component cables (y-pb-pr). I get the wonderful fun of downscaling to 420p. This is not my issue, my issue is that while playing games (despite the resolution) I get an obvious "refresh bar" scrolling up the screen every 30s or so. It's not so hideous that it makes the game unplayable but as it tracks over the image, you can see a slight green-ish discoloration as it scrolls by.
I had recently hooked up my friend's X360 (also via component cables) and do not recall seeing it at all. However, now w/ the ps3, in 1080i mode @ the xmb, I see it. Playing resistance demo @ 420p, I see it. Playing GTHD, I see it which is at 1080i.
For those that might not understand what I mean by 'refresh bar', it's that horizontal dark bar that scrolls up a computer monitor normally invisible to the naked eye but if you were to video tape a computer monitor you would see it. (try to recall videos or newsbroadcasts where they show a CRT monitor in the background, u'd see that refresh bar.
I've checked my connections, all seem to be good. The cables I bought have a satisfaction guaranteed warranty supposedly so if they are faulty I can replace em. If anyone could offer help or seen this problem on their HD projection TVs as well, please help me out because seeing it is really annoying me.
