New, new swap method.
Right so I've been looking for glitches in the system and I found something that could lead to a new way to swap games.
While starting a game (any, could be from PSN or via media) if you hold the PS button before the PS3 jingle comes up you can see that for a short amount of time the "Turn off the System" and controller dialogue comes up. It goes away in like a second, though. I was wondering if we could somehow screw with it to make it stall long enough for us swap the discs and run backups. I would but I have a crapload of work to finish for school tomorrow because the end of our quarter is approaching so I couldn't mess with it yet. Just a concept.
EDIT: I'm running 2.53 (new console, the old one I had just stopped working and Sony wouldn't fix it) :(
Screw with it... how?

Making it stall, I dunno :P
We can't just "make" it hang at a point, we haven't even gotten anything authentic exploited on the system to allow something like this.
what ever happened to the old swaploit thing for the ps3.....was it just a dud? cause i remember freeplay was a part of it
Even if you could make it hold there, doesn't mean you can swap games and get it to accept it.
There's no point in looking for holes. If there are any, they will have no visual indication.
it;s funny, just look at what everyone is saying now, but what if in a near future some bored person finds a hole, and tadda and exploit is born. I'm guessing everyone will remember the "bad" old days when we couldnt run not even the most boring homebrew on our ps3's. I believe one day it shall be done.
