Is there a secret jig port for probing the motherboard? Look at the
picture below:

See that wire coming out of that special port? Is that how you get special access to the PS3 motherboard? What is that person doing with that port? Probing the internal stuff? Or is that just a normal port that hasn't been attached?

It actually could be. Can you post us some more detailed pics though. From here that setup looks like it's a ribbon cable connector you push down...

It's not a jig port, the jig (SVC-H*****S) is connected differently.

Well, I wouldn't call it a n00b hole..
Some people just didn't recognized the power supply connector immediately as such.
