Default Possible exploit in firmware 3.00/3.01

Me and some guys think we may have found an exploit within the newest firmware by sony. I have tried this on the slim ps3s and the fat one. The slims ones do not appear to work however only selected models of the fat one do.

I will need some volenteers to help me with this as it will give me an idea of which models and which regions work.

I will not go into too much detail at this stage but if you are intrested and would like to help drop me a pm and i will give further instructions.

You have not even told us what this "exploit" does, and if it is when your press the PS button when you first load a game, we already know bout that and it not an exploit!

please if you give details of it then more people will support it, and not give you abuse over it later!

thanks

lol, Sony would only send out "assasins" if there was a proven threat to the PS3's Security.

Am still here guys. I'm not going to say anything until i know for sure. We think we might have discovered "an opening" in the firmware to boot from an external media. At the momment it appears that it only works on consoles with built in card slots. I have tested this on the UK 60GB, Amercan 80GB and it worked. I am also trying with the 80 and 40GB pal units using a memory card reader but not having much luck with that yet. I will keep you guys posted.

maybe this is the break in sonys cluches so finally we can fix the early 80gb/ later models compatibility issues our selfs asspecially that nasty bug that causes the ps2 r&c series /jak&daxter
to slow down badly and fix the online so we can finally get r&c online again on the ps3!

If it's an exploit in the PS3, that can open it up to hacking, I'm down for it. What kind of exploit are we talking about here? Hardware, or Software based?

Actually no. Also I wouldn't expect him to. One thing I do ask, is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT make a video and post it on youtube on how to do it. Sony watches youtube now like a hawk. Infinity Ward does the same thing.

Damn them for trying to stop hacks and gltiches.

PM me the details, and I'll try it. I got the new 80GB model, one without BC, and I have an original 40GB I can try it on.

Sony haven't really done much to stop hacks and glitches, purely because there haven't been any substantial hacks and glitches for them to worry about, now if a talented hacker manages to bypass the Hypervisor, only then will Sony step in and start to take action.

...Some say that he completed Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on the 'Path of the Master Ninja' difficulty setting without breaking a sweat, and that he can crack the PS3's Hypervisor by merely staring at it... all we know is, he's called The Stig!

Well that sounds promissing. Like I said, PM me the details of the "exploit" and I'll try it on the 80GB and original 40GB. See what happens. I doubt it will lead anywhere worth exploring, but who knows.

Default This could be great!

The Stig?

Also what could you boot of the external drive this is sounding a lot like the Team Xecuter HYPERDRIVE now. Too bad it was never released but if this is true then you gain the greatest fame in the entire homebrew community most likely even greater the DAX himself. However you would also be hunted down by Sony, sued and in the next firmware revision the hole would be patched
