Whenever I turn my PS3 on, the screen just stays black and goes directly to the XMB skipping the Sony logo (I have to wait 10-15 seconds for it to display) when you first start it. Sometimes it just stays black but you can still hear sounds from the XMB. I've tried turning the PS3 off and turning it back on holding it for 5 seconds until I hear the 2 beeps so I can choose a different display setting.
After that, my PS3 restarts and tells me that it detected an HDMI cable and asks me if I want to use it. I click yes and it works perfectly untill I turn the PS3 off for like 20-30 minutes and try to turn it back on but get a black screen .
This problem is only happening on my brothers PS3. My PS3 works perfectly with an HDMI port. He was using a AV cable before he switched to HDMI if that helps. I also tried my HDMI cable on his PS3 and still the same problem. It isn't a problem with his HDTV because I've tried it on mine too and we have the same HDTV.
Would it work if I connected the AV Cable and reset default connections on the PS3 then connect the HDMI cable?
I also called Sony but they didn't help very much. All they said was to send it to them and they'll replace it. Someone please help! this is very annoying. My brother doesn't want to send it to Sony because he wants to use it to play Assassin Creeds which is going to be released this week.
