I am finally getting my PS3 fixed (150$ for a repair?). I get the box and pull out the instructions for return..there is nothing about data backups or any sort of help, it's 8 pictures of how it fits in the box. I call Sony for the 6th time and get a friendly woman who tells there is no way to backup the data.
I read on another forum that you can just remove the HDD and send the system in and will receive a new console sans hard drive. Plus the first of the 8 pictures clearly states next to itSo the question is, is there any reason I can't do this, will Sony charge me? Will I get a new system?Check that the console disk tray and memory slots are empty. Do not send any media (DVD's, Blu-ray discs, memory cards) with console.
