I remember reading about how the ps3 was going to be fully backward compatable but since I knew I couldn't afford one I didn't pay much attention to the release or any news afterward. Well, my brother just bought a 40 GB and we were both surprised to find out the bc was not there for PS2. I went a-searching and found that only the boss ass (discontinued) 80 GB model had it but I also found that it was a software feature not a hardware feature. I couldn't find anything else about it but my question is, if the bc was a software feature did Sony ever release the software for people who upgrade their hdd and want the bc? Was the software part of the firmware or a separate application or what? Is is too late to get PS2 backwards compatability if you're just now buying a ps3? Does Sony have any plans to revive the backwards compatability?
Thanks for reading and responding.
