I've had my PS3 since the launch weekend - it's been connected to the internet since day one - always had the latest firmware and never skipped a beat - until now....
Switched on the PS3 this morning and noticed HOME was availible of the XMB - I decided to grab it. Download was fine, installation appeared fine until it go to the page that said something along the lines of...:
"Home requires 3077mb of harddisk space to operate - would you like to assign this space now?"
I hit 'X' to accept. A second into the 'assigning' peice, the screen flashed and the PS3 bleeped a few times.
The standby light flashes red and the PS3 no longer does anything. If I hit the 'on/off' button, the flashing red lights turns into a solid red light. Again, I hit the 'on/off' button, the PS3 turns on for ~2 seconds, bleeps 3 times and returns back to the flashing red light.
I've tried the obvious:
Removing the power, leaving it a while before powering it back up - No luck,
Removing the Harddisk and powering it up - No luck,
hold down the 'on/off' button - No luck - PS3 doesn't bleep 3 times as has been suggest elsewhere on the internet.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try???
I have contacted Sony re. a replacement - and thats not an issue - Sony will replace the unit free of charge - however, because of christmas, this will not occur until 30th dec. - So if I can try anything (ANYTHING) in the mean time that would be great!!
