I got it... the YLoD.
Ok guys I'm calling upon someone who can give me some help here, I just came home from work literally 20 minutes ago, was just about to get in the shower and thought "hmm I'll throw some banging tunes on from my PS3"...
...I get to my bedroom and turned it on... it just turns itself back off again with the blinking red light, I then thought "huh? surely just a bad moment I guess", tried it again... now it gets to the point where I start to panic!
I looked closely at the light and it went Yellow for a split-second... then it hit me like a ton of bloody bricks and now I'm in deep depression over my Playstation now!
Please! I need someone's help!
Please help me Superman!
Sorry to hear that man. Thankfully, I have never got the YLOD.
Still under warranty? Or maybe a faulty device is connected. And try Google. Somebody may have some solutions. And try to reset your PS3. Hold down the power button for 5 seconds.
Nope you can't do a reset either or the 'Recovery Menu'... looks like I'm a PS3 down... :'(
Shame, it was a launch 60GB Spec too...
Get a hammer? lol
There seems to be many fixes for this. If you're feeling courageous and don't have a warranty, try this:
PS3 Yellow Light of Death Fix - YLOD Repair Guide - The Gilksy Files! - PlayStationLifeStyle Forums
It seems to be very similar to the RSOD for the 360 where the boards get bent out of place.
I don't know how the 'board could of bent' or the solder points could get broken, I've been EXTREMELY careful with my PS3 ever since I got it... just waiting on an e-mail reply from Playstation UK.
Its a design flaw, not a user error. Its usually caused by heat/bad ventilation. At least from what I understand that is how its caused (on the 360 anyway).

Oh wow, my Nintendo 64 LASTED LONGER than my PlayStation 3 did. (maybe Nintendo should put a lifetime warranty sticker on the N64 because my PS3 Lasted ONE YEAR)
Mine did it not so long ago, phoned playstation and got another one due to warrenty, If you still have it... and you aint got the disk out yet, turn the system off by the back, hold down the power button and eject at the front, then turn on the system at the back (whilst still holding down the power and eject buttons :))
