I have a 60GB phat PS3 (full backwards compatability.) I have been experiencing issues with my PS3 reading bluray discs (games & movies). I usually have to take the disc out and re-insert it 2 or 3 times before it will show up in the video or game list on the XMB. However, once the thing finally shows up it plays fine. Yesterday I tried this serveral times and it would not pick up my Uncharted 2 disc. However, after I popped in a DVD to make sure it was still able to read DVDs (and it was, just fine.) I took out the DVD and then popped the Uncharted 2 disc in and presto the game finally appeared in the XMB and I was able to play.
The guy at the local game shop where my PS3 was repaired for a YLOD told me the problem reading blurays was due to low free HD space. My HD was kinda full but now after deleting stuff I have 15GB free and still having the same issues reading blurays.
Could I have a faulty laser?
