PS3 Image Quality

Um... what's the point of all this cool new technology if it sucks? Plasma can't display colors correctly? You have to view it from 1.2 meters away? And you want me to pay up into the thousand dollar area for that? Isn't the point of hd that it's NOT blurry and the colors are supposed to be better? Maybe I just see stuff that other people can't or that doesn't bother them. Like I was telling all the people in the breakroom at work about how the flatscreen tv had a screendoor effect to it. Nobody knew what I was talking about. They couldn't see it. One person had to get up close and then he could see it, but I could see it from across the room and it annoys me. These people also couldn't tell what I meant about lcd's refresh rate being too low (don't know if all lcd's have that problem or just the ones I've seen). I guess I'm just super-picky so I'll stick with crt, which has the fewest flaws of all the tv types... except maybe dlp--don't know anything about them.

Yeah Ive heard that Texas Instruments are going to produce something promising but the only real problem I have with CRT's is the overall size and mass. My 34" widescreen Panasonic takes up so much space and it weighs 170 pounds. In my mind it's worth it though.

IMO plasma's have the best colour reproduction of plasma/LCD/DLP screens, no big screens look good when you get with metre. How blurry and what the colours are like is dependant on the soruce.

You should not notice the "screen door effect" on any good quality screen unless you got close. Refresh rates don't apply to LCD/plasmas. CRT is big, heavy, low defintion and has high power consumption.

I beg to differ. we have four 80 inch DLP monitor's at work making up a video wall for monitoring our various systems. And these are crisp and clear up until your nose is touching the screen. Problem is that when you are that close you can only see what is infront of your nose, but its still very clear and sharp. It's probably something to do with the cost of them, seeing as they cost £14,000 each (and that was at a reduction for buying four) you would generally expect a decent picture. tell you one thing though you haven't experienced Burnout revenge until its on one of these screens. [sarcasm]But of course neither have I cos that would take away from monitoring systems and we certainly would never do that. It definitely wouldn't happen on a night shift[/sarcasm]

That's my point: you SHOULDN'T notice it, and most people don't, but I do. It's cool that tech is advancing and all, but I'll stick with crt for a while rather than be a guinea pig while they suss out how to get colors and blurriness fixed.

I find plasma tvs way better than any other kind except a high quality projection. everything else is a little blurry while my plasma provides sharpness.

I hope we have been seeing the same demos that Sony has showed us. As far as I know, the graphics are crazy looking, but as people have pointed it out it is all up to the developers I mean they are the crack heads who made teh PS2 look all ****ty and now they doing the samething with PSP. Hopefully 2K6 games will be better for PSP, since already Daxter game will be good - according to gamespot and IGN.

But yea hopefull we will not see the same mistake in PS3 games as we saw in PS2 ones!!!

1080p is the highest so i think it should be pretty good

the highest for tvs. but pc monitors have been much higher for years.
