Only you mentioned Xbox arcade.
It matters cause emulation tends to be buggy.

hmm, it says its resolution is 1024 x 768
EDIT: Oops, posted in wrong thread lol
Yup it will help the games load faster Kaz said that in the Press Confrence
If I was the only one who mentioned it than what is this first off?Zitat:

Also please provide some proof, cause atm I do not belive any of you who said it will be Emulation and I never will until I get some real proof.
Do you know how Xbox360 plays Xbox games? Obviously not, you just stick the Xbox game in the 360 and it plays. But you need files on the HDD for each game and these are update periodically. Nothing at all to do with Arcade.
EDIT: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/24/pl...ds-compatible/
Because emulation doesn't anyways work 100% for all games(see Xbox 360).Zitat:

Are you guys saying that the PS3 will Emulate PS2 games like Xbox 360 Emulates Xbox 1 because it WONT the disc drive natively supports PS2 games and run them through the processor
Yes it will. It has nothing to do with the disc drive, which does support DVD/CD's but the cell has to emulate the PS2 hardware.
"A software emulator allows computer programs to run on a platform (computer architecture and/or operating system) other than the one for which they were originally written. "
They could be right about the prototype according to that linked source, but I doubt the final will work like 360 and sorry I had no idea Arcade 360 wasn't the emulation service I could of sworn you had to order some of the old X Box 1 games oh well. As long as this is free and just as fast as PS2 games are now than I won't give a ****.
It will live with it. I heard somewhere that even the PSTwo using emulation. But i dont know if that was real or if it ws talking about the PS2 or PS1.Zitat:

No it doesen't some DVD players can play CDs, some PS1 games will not work with the PS2, I forgot how you can run them, might have to hack it.
All DVD players read CDs. No company makes a DVD only player. And the reason some ps1 games wont work on the ps2 is because it uses emulation to play the games. The PS3 uses emulation just like the 360 does live with it.Zitat:

So your saying the PS2 a DVD player, and since all DVD players play CDs. They decided to go ahead and emulate all games even though it can read and play CDs with no problem?Zitat:

its not as simple as that. the reason ps2 could play ps1 games is because the Ps1 hardware (at least the part the plays the games) was in the ps2. doing that with ps3 would make ps3 way to expensive (like it isnt already)Zitat:

Ok i was wrong about the ps2 emulating ps1. It seems both those consoles had the same chip. So the PS2 could play ps1 games without any problem since the games ran off the hardware. But still a DVD player can just read the CDs files. IT doesnt mean it can run them. Kinda like how Mac Software wont run on Windows PCs.Zitat:

The PS3 uses software to emulate the ps2 so it can play ps2 games. Just like the 360 emulates the xbox 1.
PS1/2 games WILL be emulated, despite using the original discs. The process of emulation is emulating the HARDWARE. The PS3 does not have the same hardware as the PS1/2 and so will need to emulate it because they have different processing methods. The PS2 didn't need to emulate the PS1 because it incorporated some of the PS1 hardware.Zitat:

So to clarify, it IS emulation, and as a result, some games MAY not work. Depends on how good Sony are.
I sereoulsy dout that the PS3 will EMULATE PS2 games but, if it does it is tottaly capibel
Xbox 360: PowerPC Core at 3.2Ghz to emulate Xbox: 800Mhz
PS3:Cell at 3.2Ghz+7xSPE at 3.2Ghz to emulate PS2: 223Mhz
Seems plenty capibel
The 360 has 3 cores btw and the PS3 does use emulation. So deal with it. But its also not just about the specs look at the PSP its better then the N64/GBA but how good do those emu run. Its about how good Sony codes the emulator.Zitat:
