You're supposed to burn the ISO with a program that can burn disk images, then it should place it's contents on the DVD ...otherwise what's the point of even having an ISO O_o

like i said, what's the point of an ISO if not to be burnt directly

why would you waste time extracting

just don't burn the ISO as a single file on to the disk ...i've seen that a few times -_-

1. No

2. Probably because it's not burned right

to add ISO burning function to Vista, here's a link, it also has a small tutorial at the bottom
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/Vista.htm

or try ImgBurn which is free, http://www.imgburn.com/
or http://www.cdburnerxp.se/download.php

Default Hey ak03

Hi ak03

Like you i am a newbie, although its only been about a week since the lauch in the UK.

Anyway I want to install YDL onto my PS3. Can you point me in the right direction, preferably the tutorial ur probably using. I downloaded a 3.4gb YDL data file yesterday, took 4hours. Burnt it to disk, but now I'd h8 it to go 2 waste cos I want the install to be as efficient as possible.

Please let me know how successful your one is before I continue with the current tutorial Im refferring to. ( Tutorial was posted by another member andcan be found in my previous recent thread).

Thanks.

Well, if you've already backed them up, is there anything to lose? Did you partition you HDD from the Main XMB before you started the install or not?

What do you mean? You have to have XMB in the PS3

YDL has nothing to do with playing games or any of the PS3's functions, Linux is just it's own little OS completely separate and oblivious of the PS3 as a game system

This is what it says on the guide, about partitioning though

Partition Drive
Partitioning a drive creates logical (as compared to physical) sections on
your drive, each serving the purpose of organizing and protecting data.
NOTE: If this is the first time installing Linux on your PS3, you will be
warned, "The partition table on this device sda was unreadable ..." This is
normal. Go ahead and select "Yes" to proceed.
You may either allow the Installer to create the partitions for you by selecting
Automatic Partitioning, or conduct this effort manually via Disk Druid.
If you elect to use the Automatic Partitioning feature, you may choose from one
of three schemes:
Remove all Linux partitions: this will delete and then replace only existing
Linux partitions. Please note that if you have already installed Linux on
your PS3, this procedure will DESTROY ALL EXISTING LINUX DATA.
The GameOS and game data will not be harmed.
