I installed vlc but so far I've only been able to start it from the command line without a GUI and when I enlarge the window the subtitles get all messed up, the font size gets enormous.

How can I start the vlc from KDE with the GUI? (In windows I have the option to set the size of the font)
Mplayer appeared automatically on the KDE menu.

BTW where are the applications installed on sda1?

To have a GUI you need to emerge it with the "wxwindows" USE flag

uups, that means I have to compile it myself instead of using -G.
I wonder how long it'll take.
