What linux are running? If your running Gentoo its a barebones linux distro with nothing but a black screen and a terminal. Type
Code:
 emerge gnome
to install Gnome which is a desktop environment to make it look more like windows.

Heres a pic of gentoo linux on my PS3 with gnome.

Default Startx worked!

this command worked! 'startx'

However now I have a black screen. I'm using composite cables to connect the PS3 to a standard def TV. It will still work rite? since I am following the correct tutorial on PS3 wiki for SD TVs.

How do i resolve this black screen issue? Wat did i do wrong this time?

Please help, thanks!

if you have ydl there is some configuring you have to do first. there was a thread on here a couple of months ago on this. just search for ydl 480 and you should find it. all i can remember is you need to download some package with the "wget" command and then you need to edit some configuration files.
