YDL 5.0 install w 3.4GB DIY DVD Common Errors
I knew very little about Linux until I actaully mananged to successfully install it yesterday. Anyway its great, but kinda slow. In this thread I will attempt to make the installation process a bit easier by completing this jigsaw of a problem.
1. After you've waited for so long, the 3.4 gb file!!! Do not just simply burn to DVD, you must go ahead and obtain ISO burner software to properly burn this file to DVD. These are usually freeware.
2. Insert the disk you just created into the PS3 after you've installed the otheros. Then go ahead and change the game-os to other-os and watch it reboot into Linux.
3. After you've followed the installation process you may receive the following message (SDtvs): [local@host] etc. Just type in 'Xautoconfig', it is already included on the DVD you just burned and watch it 'write to autoconfig' etc. Then type in 'startx', it'll boot up.
Those are the errors I encountered and hopefully you will not have to after reading this.
