Gentoo Mame Questions

Hi Guys

I'm very new to Gentoo I think it's a great OS.

I'm having problems getting Xmame, Advancemame and SDLMAME to work.

XMAME: 1.06

Now I'll explain with Xmame first, I install this typing emerge xmame right and when I run xmame mk2.zip or xmame nbajam.zip it says files not found
But the games are in the right directory. When I running xmame by itself it looks for some robbyrun files, is it possible that it's loaded with one game so it does not like loading any others?

AdvanceMAME 1.06

Now Advance mame I install this last night I ran '"emerge advancemame.ebuild"" and it installed but when I run admame mk2.zip it says game not supported and I've tried about 6 or 7 games and same thing can anyone help here?

SDLMAME 0112

SDLMAME I've been unable to get this installed, I have read a few forum msg and still no luck. I've been to this site and downloaded the ebuild http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145023.

But when I run the emerge ebuild it says mantiage file missing or something, can someone please help me get one of these mame's to work.


Sorry for going on so much guys, but it's quite frustrating I love mame so much, I'd just love to play it on the ps3.

PS3 Gentoo installed
Using KDE 3.5 Windows in 720P

Try running it after including the full path to the zip files. Like:
xmame /home/joshwaan2k/Desktop/mk2.zip (Replace /home/joshwaan2k/Desktop with wherever the file is placed.) Plus, try extracting the ROM from the zip file and try running it that way.

Thanks for replying mate, I'll try this. Also with extracting do I put xmame /home/joshwaan2k/Desktop/mk2 folder or something?

What's the best mame emu to run under linux for speed?
