Default yellowdog question

hi i have a problem, just installed yellow dog 5 version 1208 on the ps3,at the kboot prompt i could only use the installtext option, every other option went to blank screen.so that bit went ok after the reboot and at the kboot again
i could select 1080i option and it started to load,it asked for the login name
i typed root and my passeword, that bit went ok now i'me stuck i've searched the forums and cant locate what to do next,do i need to install anything else to get me into the gui or is there some command line i should use.
many thanks

Hmm... Im not very familiar with yellow dog, but you might want to try typing: Once you are logged in.

Code:
startx
If everything went right with your installation you should be welcomed by a gui after typing the command i gave you, but then again i haven't installed Yellow Dog and I'm typing from my PS3 with Gentoo.

However, if you are still unable to get a gui you can go HERE for some simple instructions on how to download and install a gui for YellowDog Linux.

I know how you feel, I also tried many distros before feeling comfortable with one. If you have a chance you might want to give gentoo a try. If that is the case you can go HERE for instructions on how to install gentoo. Once you have it up and running you wont regret it.
