has anyone gotten and successfully ran a good vnc server and were able to view the linux on the ps3 from a lan or even access point?if so what vnc server?

YDL has a vncserver as part of the distribution. Simply run vncserver from a terminal, its as easy as that! I just downloaded a free vnc client for my windows PC and connected first time.
