[GUIDE]: GUI Kboot

kay. it took me... 2 minutes to install this.

step 1: download this
http://ozlabs.org/~jk/projects/petit....1/otheros.bld

its a special version of otheros.bld that has the Kboot GUI preinstalled

step 2: put this into X:\PS3\OTHEROS\ >>>IN HERE<<<

this can be done with a usb drive, SD card, anything that the ps3 can read... even cd.
step 3: plug that into your ps3 and in the xmb go to settings > system settings > Install OtherOS


step 4: wait for it to find your device and install and then boot to the otheros to check if it worked.

i reset my ps3 twice to make sure it worked and it did. when the otheros fires up you will be hit with a screen and there is going to be an icon of an HDD on the left. press down on your keyboard. the press right to get to the other sections of that HDD partitions. select the corrent one and press enter. video modes can also be set. i dont know if the video modes are saved.

I dont know about custom text but if u want custom icons u need to compile this yourself.

what do u mean by features. this basically lets u use the keyboard arrows instead of typing boot-game-os or selecting specific partitions to boot.

Oh sorry, I'm not 'in' with the PS3 scene, I thought it was a whole linux distro

I dont know muchabout linux on PS3 (atleast getting it setup) but is this otheros.bld for gentoo or for ydl or for fredora?

pretty sure its ubuntu. try on ydl or any distro. if it doset work use the correct file

oh my sig lies, I am really trying to install gentoo . I just need a blank CD because my sister stole all mine . Before I was trying to install YDL and all I needed was a comp with a CD writer (a laptop) that my sis was goin to bring home but now I know gentoo will be quicker to install because I dont need to wait for her and I just need a blank CD.

ye thats where i got my info and where i dled mine.

the latest fiesty fawn ubuntu distro is really easy to install. u need a cd and burn a live cd. then just click on the install icon on the desktop

Ubuntu 7.04 beta is the same as fiesty fawn right? Oh and can Ubuntu get internet because I know that Gentoo can.

Can anyone confirm if this works with YDL 5.0?

It looks cool but I want to know which OS's work with it first.
