Yesterdasy I booted Gentoo as usual and instead of the login prompt I just got a black screen.
After rebooting I found out that the cause was the xdm service. Without it I could login and use the shell. Whenever I tried to run xdm I simply got a black screen.
I changed the SESSION in rc.conf from kde to fluxbox but nothing changed.
The last time I booted Gentoo I just installed a font, copied some avi to the harddisk (it still has some MB free) and watched Lost or House.
Ctrl-Alt-F1 or F7 don't do anything!
The only thing out of the ordinary this time is that it was going to check the filesystem because I had made 31 boots without checks, and so it did.
