Just yesterday I bought my Playstation 3 and wanted to jump on board right away to this linux OS everyone keeps talking about. Only problem is, tons of questions were brought up to my attention. Hopefully some people will post in this thread to give me some wisdom in making the right choice here.
1) My brother has a PS3 as well and doesn't have Linux on his PS3. Reason being is because he tried the Fedora 5 and said it wasn't actually worth it because of bugs and speeed issues. Is it worth it to grab linux?
2)Take first note... I'm new to Linux. I never used it in my whole life but wanted to experience Linux for the first time on my new PS3. Problem is... there are so many choices that I didn't know of, I'm uttterly confused with which one I should get.
C. Yellow Dog Linux
I know there is probably others but which one would be the best to get?
3) A continuation of the second question, what version works on the PS3 and what version (ie Fedora 5 or 6, etc.) is possibly the best?
4) I would most likely only use linux for a better internet browser (Playstation 3's main internet browser runs out of memory way too easily for some reason) and I would use it for emulators like Mupen (N64) and emulators below that fast. What is the best one for emus and a good web browser?
5) I saw in the stickies in this forum two tutorials in how to set up Linux on PS3, but with me jumping into linux for the first time, I litterally got lost in the gibberish. Is there a tutorial more easy to follow, possibly a video tutorial?
Now someone may have asked these few questions already but I don't look at this thread I made to only help me, I hope this thread helps out other First timers around here. Anybody's help would be greatly appreciated and you can call me a noob if you want, sorry about that :o.
