Default Gentoo install ****ing up my monitor

So whats happening is I am in the kboot, hit enter, and it says "mounting..." does nothing for a bit then says a bunch of stuff quickly with the last line saying in brackets "(closing event mask)" or something like that, then my monitor goes black and it says "digital, out of range" and gives me 2 frquencies (15.7kHz/60Hz)...it did this when I tried to change the PS3 to 1080p...so is that what it is doing, or is it doing something else that I am unaware of?
I have an LG Flatron wide that supports up to 1680x1050
I am running the PS3 over HDMI to DVI cable.

If it is changing the install to 1080p, how can I change it to support the monitor (even if the resolution is under 720p I just want to install the ****ing thing)?

Your TV doesn't support 1080p thats the problem. 1920x1080 is 1080p so just set the resolution to 720p.

its a computer monitor, and I set it to 720p in the PS3 already, but yet it still does this and IDK why

EDIT: it also loads up the kboot no problem, but it is when the install starts

What do you mean in the PS3? Are you talking about the xmb? If so that doesnt matter. The gentoo installation is displayed in 480i which is a very low resolution. I dont think any pc monitor will dispaly such a low resolution you will need to try to install it on a tv that supports such a low resolution.

Ya only the actually install is in 480i which is why the kboot screen works fine.

so what can/will I need to do in order to change this. or will I need to use an older TV?
The only way I will be able to access a TV that is 480i is if I use wireless. will that be fine for the install then I just use t with my monitor...or what kind of steps do I need to take

When you get to the kboot hit the "tab" key until you see "gentoo 720p" then hit enter

Ya your gonna need to use a older tv. I had to do this as well. Can you not move the tv/router close to each other for like a hour? Wifi wont work during the install.
