I did too. It's quite slow, hard to setup, and limited.

I use it. Marvel vs Capcom and Giga Wing looks sweet on my monitor. Being able to play Killer Instinct 2 is freaking awesome. I still need to mess around with it and get Soul Calibur working tho. .avi support is sweet too. I really wish it supported .midi.

After you get it set up tho there really isn't a point to post here again is there?

i know whats the point in sony allowing linux on the ps3 when the rsx is blocked!? linux is pretty useless on the ps3 without rsx access if you ask me.

How so? You can still play most of the best emulators and do most basic computing needs.

Lets be honest, its not just Linux that is losing peoples interest on the PS3, its the lack of killer games, yes it's going to get better but the PS3 has been out for almost a year now and I can still count good games on one hand and no true next gen, jaw dropping, eye popping games as of yet!! And I still can't play divx through the xmb, I have to load up linux and play it through that. What I'm saying is normal people (not sony fanboys) are starting to wonder just why they got a PS3 when it might as well at this point in time be a big fat shiny PS2 emulator..ok that's my rant over but I think it shows with this thread with linux how disillusioned people are with the PS3 full stop...

People arn't loosing interest in the PS3, if anything, its gaining slowly. Killer games = 4th Quater of 07/Start of 08.

Linux isn't going to be something every PS3 owner uses, the people who know what it is, use it regularly, and know what they are doing will use it.

As for the good games, include the ones comming out soon and you'll need another hand.

What 'normal people' [although cannot be defined] people will wonder is why they got a Wii, our Wii has 3 games, one was included with the console, and it hasn't been touched for a few months...

ANYWHO, lets not start a console row. Until something major happens in the PS3Linux scene then the Linux area will be pretty quiet and it is understandable.

The PS3 forums has recently surpassed the amount of replies in the 360 forum. People haven't lost interest in it, maybe console discussion.

Linux was a gimmick, just a useless feature right now until they add more support, that's why it's not discussed much - it was awesome for a few days..then hey..wait..what can I use this for? It's not practical IMO

How can you call a feature that allows you to play snes/gba/gbc/arcade/nes games, browse the internet with firefox(xmb internet browser sucks), allows you to play a wide varitey of media and video formats, and makes your PS3 a fully funcitonal pc useless?

becausei have a pc not even 3 feet away. browsing on a 32" isnt my concern. If i can boot into an OtherOS in less than 10 seconds than maybe ill think about using the ps3 as a emulation station. till then ill use my ps2 or pc. snes on a big screen is something im aiming for in the near future. thing is tho that im really busy so no snes yet. and i had trouble playing media in ubuntu for ps3. i rather watch media on my pc. too much hassle to transfer and watch onto my bigscreen, which is why the ps3 DLNA thing comes in handy.
