What are the advantages, if any, of installing linux on PS3?

I'm not really into the whole modding scene, but I did hack my PSP so I could put emulators on it. Is that the whole point of linux as well, emulators and what not?

Just wanna know a few things that would make putting Linux on there worthwhile. If this has already been asked, direct me to the thread. I couldn't find it and the linux FAQ that's stickied, didn't asnwer my question.

Like... Anything really.

You can use Firefox to browse the Internet... It's soo much faster than Sony's PS3 Browser...

lmao. Anything that doesn't need a graphics processor, you mean. And anything that isn't RAM intensive.

So SNES and Mega Drive (Genesis) are about the limit on emulators.
