this is a really simple question, where can i download apps like snes9x emulator for ydl 5.0? i've been searching everywhere and im pretty sure theres a link somewhere but i can't find it. can someone please help? thanks.

wow, uhh...yea. im a COMPLETE noob when it comes to linux. i read the install.txt docs and other docs for the snes emu but i have NO CLUE what im doing. is there like a step-by-step walk-through somewhere so im not just clicking random files and getting the same warning, "this is very bad. Enlightenment has run an illegal procedure..." if someone knows of a walk-through i would really appreciate a link

Just use the pakage manager! Thats the best feature of linux

whats that? its cuz all the stuff i download for ydl 5.0 has a docs and src folders and if i try 2 run an .exe program like snes9x nothing happens. no error msgs or pop ups or anything. i even tried re-installing the os to see if i messed up. also i sometimes get a permission denied msg. i have no idea how to find the settings for permissions under root. plz help

that is where you can get any emulator for any system. not sure how to use the linux versions though.

log out and re-login as the root user. That way you have complete control over the system.

Or if you're working from a terminal, just tye "su-" and enter your password.

Try looking and see if there is a version packed in an RPM file. If so, that simplifies the process. But if not, just unpack the archive.
