i know a bit about the hypervisor and how it limits us from accessing much of the hardware of the ps3, main thing i noted was the 3d acceleration? i tried searching but didnt get much. i want to know the specs of linux running on ps3. like when you review a pre-built computers. the cpu power, amount of ram and such. please and thanks.

The RSX is disabled in PS3 Linux, why? Because, in order to load PS3 ISOs, you need access to the RSX! It's a sure-fire way to prevent piracy without restricting what can go on the guest OS.

so everything else works fully? does that mean the only reason people say ps3 linux sucks is because most programs arent built around the kind of processors/architecture of it?

no, they say ps3 linux sucks because it doesn't have rsx access. This means that you can't run many programs and emulators well.

It can run every emu up until n64.. It really just sucks for everything but moves and Web... and maybe a few Snes game and such,...

It also sucks since it also a ppc Cpu and not a x86...

So basically linux on PS3 is pointless? Glad i didn't waste my time...

well, if you have stuff on your ps3, and dont have a big enough external drive to back it up. then say goodbye to all of it when you install linux! they really should have it partition the last 10 gigs of free space.
