I like YDL but my friend who has used Linux since he was 4 says Ubuntu is better or something.

So I was wondering which one is just better. I just want something like a Windows XP and it can run emulators. Earthbound = Win.

ubuntu is easier, but ydl is more compatbile (supported by sony, access to 6 processors instead of 2)

No, all Linux distros uses 5 or 6 SPE's.

Ubuntu is excellent for beginners.
