Grr, my Ubuntu is acting stupid, so I have 2 questions.

I installed it yesterday at around 10:30 at night.. fell asleep at about 10:31!!
Anyway, how do I change the resolution on my SDTV? It says I can't and I have searched but they all say I can't but I don't know..
Also, is it possible to connect to my wifi with the WPA encryption? I couldn't find an answer to that question

Also, is there a difference between the last iso on this page and a PS3 version?

1. that iso is for yellowdog. youre talking about ubuntu... thats 2 different distro's
2. go to the console and type ps3videomode -x where x is the correct number dictated by this page: http://ps3wiki.qj.net/index.php/PS3_Video_Mode

Try tapping the TAB button a few times. It worked for Yellow Dog, it might work for Ubuntu.

And yes i did mean YDL.. i might try to install that if its the correct one?

u probably didnt enter the correct number in ps3videomode

in the console, after you get a black screen press up (or ctrl up?) to copy the previous command, then press backspace y time, y being the number of digits in the argument, and then keep trying other numbers till u get your wanted result. but yea linux is pointless on a ps3

there is no correct linux for ps3. YDL is the one backed by sony, but that doesnt make it the best. ubuntu is a good distro, and there are many more.

None of those helped, they all go to a blank screen, and if i set it to P instead of I it stuffs up too, full screen goes half the screen on the left, a blank gap, and then the rest of the screen on the right.
I have entered all the combinations for ps3videomode, none worked on my SDTV.. haven't tried the HDTV but that won't help even if it did work because I won't be using the HDTV.

Any other ideas?

and stop bickering about linux please, i just want the screen resolution to be different, nothing else

the link in your first post? that was the link to the YDL iso. the link in my first post applies to most, if not all distributions of linux for the ps3.

there isnt per se a ps3 specific one. there is one that is made for PPC processors and thats the one the ps3 uses.

try that one. i would suggest to torrent it instead, itll be faster.

Thank you, i will use the one from my ISP.. they have a "free downloads section" where i can get some linux distros that don't count towards my monthly quota.. and surprise surprise.. it says "YDL 5.01 ps3.iso" or something.. guess i'm getting that!
