Default Using Flash card for swap to increase performance?

I know for Windows it's recommended to have the page file on a separate drive from the main OS so that it doesn't have to access the page file and system files from the same drive at the same time. I'm assuming a similar benefit might come with Linux. Could I format a 1-2GB SD/CF/whatever card as the whole flash partition during install, and I would I actually see a performance benefit from doing that?

You would see no benefit due to the low speed of the flash card interface.

Would that issue be resolved if I did a USB Flash key instead?

No, it is still flash based, almost anything flash based it slow. Although over the years speed has increased. HDD > Flash!

It's limited by the USB bus speed; it's too slow.

Yes that too. FreePlay do you think when USB 3.0 is released, that it will be fast enough for this?

Well its for sure not using 1.1.

mohaas05, remember... were taking about a flash card not flash drive through the USB Ports.

The "Readyboost" or what ever you want to call it, is ran off a Flash Drive.

It saves the hard drive if you have to access program data and the page file at the same time and they're at two different locations.

You shouldn't go on the internet when you're PMSing. WTF are you complaining about threads being created for when there isn't even a page worth of threads made in a week?

Flash cards them selves are still have a slow read rate.

Even though the flash cards are not going through USB, the transfer read/write rates are still too low.
