Default Error starting new install of Fedora 8 on 2.36 firmware

I'm having a problem starting a fresh install of Fedora 8 on 2.36 firmware. Using this tutorial

http://www.bohmer.net/ps3_stuff/inst...-8-on-PS3.html

everything installed fine, got the normal error, booted into rescue mode, edited the yaboot.conf file and copied it as instructed. The suggested setting of video mode 138 resulted in a blank screen but video mode 0 worked fine. The problem occurs when I try to boot from the hard drive, the tutorial says "After a while, we get a text installation menu, configure here what is needed.", only all I get is this message:

Red Hat nash version starting
Unable to access resume device (LABEL=SWAP-ps3da3)
UFS: can't find ext3 filesystem on dev ps3da3.
mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: Invalid argument
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory

(They may be some small typos in the error message, it was very difficult to read off my old television. I made it out the best I could.)

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you didn't format your drive properly...

I did it exactly as per the instructions. Triple checked it to make sure it was correct. Maybe an issue with the tutorial? I dunno. I think I'm about to give up on this and just go with Yellow Dog.
