Just got a PS3 and I'd like to install Linux on it, but I don't have a DVD burner. I tried to search for info here on if a burned CD-r would work, but I guess the forum search doesn't like terms that short.
Can Linux be installed on the PS3 from a burned CD? If so, does this work for any Linux variant or only specific ones? Also, as I'm a Linux newb, are there any significant differences or advantages from one flavor of Linux to another? I'd like to be able to perform a variety of tasks including web browsing and playing emulators. Thank you in advance for your time and help. |

Yes, Linux can be installed on a CD. However, you'll have to find CD media to download. For example, Yellow Dog Linux (YDL) only comes in DVD iso packages, so you wouldn't be able to install it.
However, distributions like Gentoo, Ubuntu, and I believe Fedora all have CD iso options. |
