Ok so the ps3 does not have access to the rsx. So withoit thos is there no video playback. I want to be able to watch things on youtube. So would flash player be able to work. Also would mp4 files work.

Also if i got a ps3 with firmware below 2.1 what would be the benefits of using the rsx hack. What would be the cons of not having the latest fw version.

The problem is that Adobe doesn't have a version of Flash for PPC Linux. There are open source alternatives but their degree of success is variable. Besides, you can watch Youtube in the PS3 browser.

mohaas05 is right, you know what they say - "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"

XMB is much more accessible than booting Linux just to play an *.mp4
