Question Which linux?

Hi everyone,
I got myself a ps3 recently and i heard that you can install a linux on it. what is the best version to install?
I will use it to:
-surf the web
-listen to music (mp3 mostly, wma would be nice too)
-watch hd movies that i have stored on my home network(most are in .mkv and .avi formats)
-get access to all shared folders on the network (Computers that share the folders use vista or XP)
-browse through pictures, perhaps put on a slide show.

all help is appreciated, thx

btw i am a newbie in the linux world, but a fast learner)

i would suggest megabox v2.0 using the gentoo live cd method
google it for more information and look on youtube for demonstrations.

If not that then ydl s good for begginers and if you think you can handle it maybe gentoo.

Also ydl is easy to install but a bit limited filling due to the rpm installer
I havnt had as much experience but the install is supposed to be difficult and the installing of packages is supposed to be more open.

But again i would suggest megabox if that is all you want to do.(also megabox installation can be a bit tedious)

If possible, I'd go with Fedora.

The PS3 already does all of this but you remind me of myself so...

Get a copy of Ubuntu for PS3 and install it, you'll need to use this guide for that.

Now Ubuntu is the newbie's distribution, and since the PS3 is a nice media center, let's make it look like one.

Look here for this very nice UI that you can install with a little bit of hacking. It comes with the HP Mini Netbook and has buttons for internet and everything you need of that sort.
