Default Enabling PS3 vram

Hi guys,

I realise that the RSX chip is totally disabled, but I've heard that there are ways of enabling the graphics ram and use it as swap space which speeds up the speed of the OS.

Any instructions on how to do it?

Lots of people have tried, Sony allowed partial access in Yellow Dog a while back.

The performance increase isn't really all that great, almost negligible infact. I can't help you with any other distributions but the latest YDL has it built into the kernel. I'd consider changing to something like fluxbox if you really want to see a performance increase.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that it's what you meant or anything, but if you think enabling vram swap with somehow compensate for the disabling of the rsx chip you'll be sorely disappointed. It'll just make the programs that already work in PS3 linux run a little better.
