working? does it recognise playstations soundcard?

i was thinking about installing linux then wine on it and then some sound editing software for windows... i wonder is this going to be a wasted try

It wont allow executables designd for a CPU to run on a SPU its not ment for that. it allows windows based executables to run on a linux machine with a CPU

boooooring.. well atleast theres lotsa emulators for linux. if someone could post some sites and rom sites. i knoe a few cherryroms if its still working and hmm there was one site that had even ds releases but i hafta ask my brother about that.

are there any fast tracker type softwares for linux? or something like ableton live or fruity loops?

Posting links to ROM/ISO's is against the rules. We can only talk about personal backups.

Posting Emulators is perfectly fine, but the ROMs are a no-go and is punishable by law of MAH LAZOOR!!

no ROMs? Ouch! They're not all illegal haha... but doing sound editing with PS3 isn't very good idea. as awesomely fast as the CPU is in the PS3 only has 256mb so it would be a little slow doing so.

This is a really sad thread.. First off the ps3 uses a PPC CPU there no way a x86 wine system can run on it. The ps3 ram is not upgrade and no you should not do any editing on the ps3 via Linux..

No, im saying other people have puled off some pretty awesome acheivements on other systems (x360,psp etc.). So im just saying, why not the Ps3?

The ps3 has the ability to do lots of stuff no other console really can. if you want to exploit it just to say: "Hey, I did it", go ahead. Its fun, and it gives you bragging rights, for whatever they're worth.

Modding? Come on adam, I couldn't see you doing any modding. Like I was reading yesterday about someone who got an old DirecTV satellite dish and set it up as a wifi antennae with common house hold equipment (well sort of common :P ), and he got 8 mile range,but this was connecting to a high powered regional wifi hotspot, it was so cool. Oh and did any of you hear about some hardware hackers making modular motherboards where all the componants like the CPU socket, RAM, network, expansion slots etc. are separate making an infinitely upgradeable motherboard.
