Not sure how it is on YDL but on gentoo when a emulator is installed it goes to the usr/games/bin/ directory in the filesystem.

I just installed it and went through hell, but honestly without this site I would have been lost.

I love getting lost however, this is how I truly learn the OS and how it works.

Anyway just saying thanks!

So do you guys think Linux is worth it? I have a PC.

EDIT: OH ****ING ****. I formatted, then second guessed Linux. Bye Bye 2 Resistance completions . Does your online account and purchased games go away too?

Default OK, gotta quick question about the addon disk

I let my system do the FC5 install(full) I walked away and let it go. I came back about 2 hours later, the FC5 disk was ejected, it had prompted for the addon disk, then canceled itself and went back to the kboot prompt. is there anyway to get the addon disk installed, or am I going to have to let it do the full install all over again.

Thats why you back up your HDD before you format.

It's best to use a large USB Drive to backup before installing linux, i didn't have one, so i had to find anything that i had with USB/Memory storage (2x MP3 Player, Phone Memory Card, 2x PSP Memory cards lol)

I'm having the same problem as Johnny 202003 had, I'll link to his screenshot:
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/2...ture002zl3.jpg

I can type things in, but do I have to wait?

Edit: Yes, it's working! Guess I'm impatient too ^_^

Default PS3 boots to blakc screen

I've installed YDL, now I cant get my PS3 to boot in either Linux or GameOS. Tried doing a hard reset and it just boots to a black screen.

Any advice?

Yes, If you format the HD you will loose your save games.
I just used my old 30 gig Creative Zen NX MP3 player to back up when I partitioned my PS3.

My screen goes blank now after step 6.

I can not get back to the XMB, even after a hard restart. The system is on but nothing. Is there a way to get back to the XMB or is my System done?

i have just one noobish question that i still don't understand....

why do you have to format your ps3 before installing any linux os? other than the fact that it could brick or screw up ur ps3 in any way......

It's required because a second partition is created exclusively for Linux use. Linux can only alter data which resides in its respective partition and as a result cannot harm the data on the other partition which is used by the PS3 OS (nor brick or screw up the PS3 as a whole.)

I made a mistake during the linux installation. I bought a wireless keyboard thinking that it would work during the installation process, but I guess I need a usb keyboard after all. Do I have to register it like I did the wireless keyboard or will it work on the spot? If I have to register it, how can I possibly go back to the ps3 xmb? I really hope this isn't a big mistake that requires me to send the machine to sony.

im not completely sure, but if that does happen, you can try shutting it down, and when you start up hold the power button for 5 seconds. that restores default settings and should bring you back to the xmb. again, im not completely sure so dont quote me or anything. xP

I loaded the GUI interface, and all I see is this... weird lines that show a very VERY unclear image. It goes in columns. And it blinks. How do I fix it? I can't see ANYTHING clearly except the Fedora Core wallpaper...
