I have the lists of all the resolution changes, but where can I find the file in linux to change my resolution i.e. where in the menus do i need to click to find that folder.
Also, does the PS3 wireless adapter work with linux or do I need to do something to get it to recognize it, and if so what might those steps be. Sorry for the lack of knowledge on my part but linux is very new to me. -= Double Post =- Scratch the one where I was wondering how to change the resolution. I found it finally. I'm still wondering as to how I would configure my wireless using the PS3's wireless card though, plz help. Last edited by jasper1605; 01-18-2007 at 07:35 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Not to be mean - but try searching. I just bought my PS3 today, and already I found the answer to that and many other common questions.
To answer you however, there are no current wireless drivers for the PS3 under any version of Linux. Sony is working with the people at Yellow Dog to get some, but no time frame has been given. I would expect that once the YDL wifi drivers are out, it will be a simple matter of time (hopefully short) until the other distros like Gentoo have the wifi drivers. Until then, keep the PS3 plugged in to the network. Hope this helps. |

That's through QEMU. Definitely not usable or practical. And I don't want to look at a million threads asking the same question about how they can run Windows games on the PS3. It would be giving false hope to everyone.

Where are you typing this? At the kboot prompt or after booting into Gentoo?
Typing emerge at the kboot prompt won't work since emerge is a gentoo-specific app. Boot into Gentoo (fluxbox), open a terminal and type this there. |

It was not at the kboot, I was in Gentoo (fluxbox) right after I edited my make.conf. Funny thing is, that I rebooted and I got a prompt to enter a username and pass. I read here that the username would be root and the pass would be the one I chose upon install. They worked and now I am staring at a black screen with a pointer and a white bar at the botttom with the word one on the extreme left and the time at the extreme right. Where am I??? I am confused +2 now. I should mention that this reboot was without the install CD, I'm trying a reboot WITH the cd. Booting with the CD takes me to livecd root #, those 2 lines: echo "sys-apps/portage ~ppc" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords emerge -u portage are still not working

You seem to have done everything correctly since you're in fluxbox. What I don't understand is the fact that the emerge command isn't working. Did your PS3 connect properly thru DHCP? If so, I can connect to it through ssh and check what the problem is.

Hi Cyanide,
How do you change the resolution to 480i in Sony 27" Standard TV? I have installed Fedora Core 6 on my PS3 60GB but the display screen doesn't fit in right after I logged in. Sorry I'm very new in Linux and stuff. |

Do this with the livecd inserted, and at the livecd prompt.
Code:
swapon /dev/sda2 mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/gentoo/ mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc mount -o bind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev chroot /mnt/gentoo/ /bin/bash env-update && source /etc/profile nano -w kboot.conf Code:
exit cd /mnt umount gentoo/proc/ gentoo/dev/ gentoo/ reboot |

when you put passwd, just type it in, don't mind that it's not showing up, press Enter and then retype it when it asks you to do so if you type in something and all you see is nothing, that's because it doesn't use little asterisks (*****) like windows does, it just shows nothing hope that helps |
