PS3 Controller and Linux

Hello everyone,

Like practically 95% of the people who want a PS3, I don't have one yet. However, one of the main reasons I want a PS3 is for Linux and (hopefully) some of the homebrew that will come about because of that support. I know that the RSX is blocked from Linux, but I can't find any information on the controller (although there are some hints that it might be blocked). Can it be used with PS3 Linux? If it can't be used, is it that there aren't appropriate resources to access the controller (drivers/APIs) or is it due to the fact that Sony has blocked access to the controller or bluetooth devices in general? It would really kind of suck if we had Linux on a console with no access to the graphics chip or to the controller... Still cool, but kind of disappointing.

I can't find this information anywhere, so would someone with a PS3, or someone who has found this out on some other site please let me know?

Oh so the RSX GPU is blocked from Linux?

...so that's how Sony did it. Makes sense.

yes the controller when its pluged in not wireless shows up at joy0 or joy1.. you can use it for snes emus

So basically, everything is in place to permit at least 2D games/emulators (and possibly small 3D games using a couple of the SPEs). Now I know for sure that I want a PS3.
